Logging Airport Hours

We made it safely to MSP, and everyone is even smiling! We have many hours of airports and airplanes ahead of us but when it is all over we'll be in sunny Guatemala with a high of 75 today!

***Update: this is a first for our flight attendants as well--the toilet on our plane overflowed due to frozen water pipes! We deboarded and are waiting for a new plane to get us to Miami. We're praying hard that we'll make our connecting flight in Miami. But we're still smiling :)

****Update #2: We made it to Miami...7 minutes after our flight took off! We are waiting to rebook but have been told we'll be on the 7:05pm flight. We've been in contact with our interpreter, Patty, who is with Moises. After the toilet over-flow incident we got a new plane. That plane was out of gas. Then, the fuel truck broke down. It was one of those "what else could go wrong" flights and we all blame Phil! He spent the morning telling bad flight stories and jinxed our trip!

  2. I read this excerpt this morning, and HOW FITTING, TODAY, as you set out on this glorious adventure!

    ...from Steinbeck's East of Eden

Sometimes a kind of glory lights up the mind of a man. It happens to nearly everyone. You can feel it growing or preparing like a fuse burning toward dynamite. It is a feeling in the stomach, a delight of the nerves, of the forearms. The skin tastes the air, and every deep-drawn breath is sweet. Its beginning has the pleasure of a great stretching yawn; it flashes in the brain and the whole world glows outside your eyes. A man may have lived all of his life in the gray, and the land and trees of him dark and somber. The events, even the important ones, may have trooped by faceless and pale. And then—the glory—so that a cricket song sweetens his ears, the smell of the earth rises chanting to his nose, and dappling light under a tree blesses his eyes. Then a man pours outward, a torrent of him, and yet he is not diminished. And I guess a man’s importance in the world can be measured by the quality and number of his glories. It is a lonely thing but it relates us to the world. It is the mother of all creativeness, and it sets each man separate from all other men.

  3. Praying for you all from here in chilly Minneapolis. May God smooth your way, and if He doesn't make it smooth may He make your way one filled with opportunities for grace and blessing.
